Sunday Organizing: Safety Pin Storage

It's been awhile since I created a Sunday Organizing post. Yet last night as I proceeded to pin my word of the year sampler quilt, I smiled in reflection of my use of  old "pill bottles".  They really do make the perfect safety pin holder... safe and secure from children and easy to throw in your sewing bag.

I also found my childhood needles stored in an empty staple box.
(Guess I've always been thrifty and organized! LOL!!)

Comment to share your nifty safety pin storage idea.
With smiles!

  2. Great ideas. It's nice to see you were always so organised. I keep my safety pins an a little plastic box with dividers. I think it is probably a fishing tackle box.

  5. When I receive tiny gourmet jams bottles I recycle them for this purpose. They are clear and it's easy to see their contents. I use pill bottles to collect used and broken pins and needles for disposal.

    1. OOOhhhh I really like the idea of using the pill bottles for disposal of needles. (I always worry about my dogs getting into the trash) You could put bent pins in here as well) Thanks for sharing!

  7. I keep a small Gatoraid bottle (with the top taped to it) on a small table near my sewing machine for pins that go wrong and dull needles. My safety pins are in a small tin that held tea bags... a gift from my Granddaughter years ago. A very precious item. (Smiles)

  8. I use, and have plenty of, Mentos gum containers, both the large and small ones. The are perfect for buttons, old sharps, safety pins etc.

  9. I have a plastic peanut butter jar for used rotary blades, bent pins, dull needles, and other sharps. My pins, safety and straight, are in "Twisterz" containers. I bought them on clearance. They're see-through, stackable, and have twist on lids with enough threads that their contents won't spill in my bag. www.quiltartbymegan.com

  10. I buy the small tin cans at the dollar store. They are all shapes and sizes and decoration/theme. Usually at holidays and have the holiday themes on them are when I buy. No decorating by me required. I have a medium/small one for large quilting pins, one for smaller quilting pins and one for my sewing machine feet and one for needles/rotary blades..things that I seldom use but stock up on! Works great! Also, I put magnets in the bottom of the can and the underside of the lid....really helps in keeping the pins together when you toss them in . I peel the long, wide magnet strip off those tablets that have them on the back to put on fridge etc.
